Cary Scott Shannon

Cary Scott Shannon, age 49 of Macclenny, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023 at HCA Orange Park Medical Center. Best known to family and friends as “Scott”, he was born in Jacksonville on October 28, 1974 to Mr. Patrick “Pat” and Mrs. Cheryl (Barber) Shannon. Scott would attend Baker County High School and would spend the majority of his life here, excluding a few years in Alabama.

Scott will be remembered by those who knew him for his quick witted nature and by his family as the “wild child”. Scott loved to kid around and to pull a good prank. He thoroughly enjoyed cooking and was quite the outdoorsman. One of Scott’s biggest passions was Alabama football. If you knew Scott, you knew he was all about his Crimson Tide. He also was a supporter of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Scott was preceded in death by his loving mother; and his maternal grandparents: Cary Barber and Ellwood and Elene Barber Caldwell.

He is survived by his son: Hunter Shannon of Glen St. Mary; his father: Pat Shannon of Macclenny; sister: Tammy (Brad) Jemison of Daphne, Alabama; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, and other family members.

A Celebration of Scott’s Life will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 at the First Baptist Church of Macclenny at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Shultz and Rev. Bill Yedell officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the start of services.

Final memorialization will be by cremation.

The family asks that you were your “Crimson or White” in honor of Scott’s love for Tide.
