Argathia Carpenter Obituary
Argathia Carpenter, 73 of Macclenny passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at her residence.
Ms. Carpenter had been a resident of Baker county for over 30 years and worked as a cook and waitress in restaurants.
She was born in Charleston, West Virginia on January 10, 1946 to the late Mr. Russell and Della (Layton) Carpenter.
In her spare time Argathia, or "The Great Babe" as she was often called, enjoyed playing bingo and fishing. She was known as one to speak her mind and tell it how it is. She loved her family and was a joy to be around.
She was also a member of the Macclenny Moose Lodge 2412.
She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Lloyd Carpenter, Pete Carpenter, Albert Carpenter.
She leaves behind her sons: Robert (Jennifer) Knuckles of Sanderson and Douglas (Mary) Shell of Macclenny; daughter: Lucienda (Chris) Peden of Nashville, Tennessee; grandkids: Robert Knuckles, Tristan Knuckles, Mckailynn Knuckles, Caitlyn Shell, Chasity Shell, Samantha Shell, Michael Bland, Corey Shell, Delilah Shell, Brandon Shell, Shiloh Shell, Christopher Peden, and Brooklyn Peden; great-grandchildren: Joseph Chilton, Bryson Bland, Logan Shell, Sean Shell, Bentley Shell, Lexi Shell, and Kayleigh Shell; sisters: Nancy Montgomery of Cleveland, Ohio and Geneva Corby of Macclenny; nieces: Geneva (Perry) Beck of Macclenny and "Baby Jess" of Glen St. Mary; as well as numerous other family members and friends.
The family will be receiving friends at 10 o'clock AM, Thursday, June 6, 2019 in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home. A funeral service to honor Ms. Carpenter's life will begin at 11:00.
She will be laid to rest at Macedonia Cemetery.
