Barbara Gail McCormick

Barbara Gail McCormick, 76 of North Augusta, South Carolina and formerly of Thomasville, Georgia passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Augusta University Medical Center with her family by her side.

"Gail" was born November 26, 1943 to the late Gillie and Geneva (Harrell) Barwick in Tallahassee and grew up in Panacea.

She graduated from Lively Technical College in Tallahassee and went on to own her own shop, Modern Beauty Shop. Ms. McCormick was a dedicated mother, grandmother, sister and friend and was one of the most selfless women you could meet. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family. She also loved to snack on Little Debbie cakes and Reeses peanut butter candies.

She was a member of New Hope Church of God in Augusta, GA.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mr. Tommy Barwick.

She leaves behind her daughters: Rachael McCormick of North Augusta, SC and Marsha Gail (Wayne) Demoga of Coolidge, GA; son: Edward Morgan III of Augusta, GA; grandchildren: Gregory Morgan of Thomasville, Lanie (James) West of Coolidge, and Jacqueline (Reece) Yarbrough of Coolidge; great-grandchildren: Blaine West, Madeline Yarbrough, Paisley Yarbrough, J.L. West IV, Mabrey West, Tyler West, and Erin West; brother: Charles (Linda Faye) Barwick of Thomasville; as well as numerous other family members and friends.

The family will be receiving friends Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 12:00 until 1:00 pm at Panacea Full Gospel Assembly Church, Panacea, Florida.

A funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm at the church with Pastor B.B. Barwick officiating.

She will be laid to rest following the conclusion of the service in Panacea Cemetery, Panacea, Florida.

In lieu of flowers, Ms. McCormick requested that donations be made in her honor to Amedisys Home Health Services in Aiken, South Carolina or to the Arthritis Foundation in honor of her granddaughter.
