Clara Laverne Stevens, age 81 of Macclenny passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital. She was born on August 2, 1940 in St. George to the late Mr. Ellis and Willie Mae (Tarrence) Crews. She would work as a licensed practical nurse for many years until her health caused her retirement. She would use the skills she gained over the years to take care of her husband during their marriage. Ms. Clara loved the Lord and reading her bible. She was a caring mother and a dedicated wife for many, many years. In her later years after her husband’s passing, she enjoyed making jewelry. She also enjoyed tending to her flowers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Ellis “Gene” Crews and Elizabeth Clough; and her beloved husband: Henry Stevens Sr.
She is survived by her children: Bonita “Bridgett” (Bryan) Rhoden of Macclenny and Howell (Jan) Stevens Jr. and Bruce (Robin) Stevens all of Nichols, Georgia; grandchildren: Kyle (Elisa) Stevens of Statesboro, Georgia, Nikki (Brandon) Helms of Alma, Georgia, Erik (Jamie) Rhoden of Fleming Island, and Samantha Rhoden of Macclenny; nine great-grandchildren; sister: Eleanor (Clarence) Wright of Douglas, Georgia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
