Derek Wayne Griffis

Derek Wayne Griffis of Macclenny, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the age of 63. Derek was born August 17, 1960 in Macclenny, the son of the late Wayne Griffis and Mrs. Doris (Crews) Griffis. Derek loved spending his time near the water, enjoying trips to the beach and fishing. He was passionate about animals, and treasured time spent with his family and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his father: Wayne Griffis; and a brother: David Pendleton.

He is survived by his son: Skye Wayne Griffis of Macclenny; his mother: Doris Griffis of Macclenny; brother: Clayton (Patsy) Griffis of Sanderson; as well as a host of friends and extended family.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Rev. David Thomas officiating. Visitation will take place at 1:00 PM until the hour of service. A private burial will follow.
