Doris Pearl Thornton

Doris Pearl Thornton, age 80 of Bryceville passed away Saturday, February 12, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. She was born in Jacksonville on July 23, 1941 to the late Mr. Everett and Lucille (Fouraker) Surrency. Ms. Doris loved to prepare meals and tend to her family and was a dedicated mother and wife for many years. She attended Bryceville Baptist Church when she was in better health.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Wayne Surrency; children: David Thornton, Lorie Lee Thornton, and Mary Denise Hutto; and her beloved husband of sixty years: Clarence Thornton.

She leaves behind to cherish the memories: daughters: Dorothy (David) Gomillion and Michele Thornton all of Bryceville; grandchildren: Shane (Tori) Gomillion, Krissi (Larry) Gomillion, David (Brittany) Gomillion, Jessie (Reyna Roland) Aman, Christopher (Kendra) Thornton, Sonny (Beth) Aman, Hailey  (Reese Hollie) Hutto, Cody (Amber Watson) Hutto, and Brittany Hutto; great-grandchildren: Lucas Gomillion, Lane Gomillion, Lauren Steinmeyer, Savannah Gomillion, Charlotte Gomillion, Lawson Aman, Aubrey Thornton, Tyler Aman, Raylon Aman, Jayden Hutto, and Shailey Williamson; siblings: Bill (Wanda) Surrency of Bryceville and Riley Surrency and Becky Surrency Nettles both of Callahan; as well as extended family.

Graveside services will be held Friday, February 18, 2022 at 3:00 PM at South Prong Cemetery with Rev. Paul Abernathy and Rev. Richard Fish officiating.
