Edward Carlton Gray, Sr.

Edward “Carl” Carlton Gray Sr., age 65 of Glen St. Mary passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital. Carl was born in Hackettstown, New Jersey on October 2, 1955 to the late Mr. Doyle and Martha Ann (Smith) Gray. He grew up and was a lifelong resident of Baker County. Mr. Gray dedicated nearly forty years of his life to working at CMC-Gerdau in Jacksonville. In his spare time, Carl was an avid hunter and fisherman. Over the last few years, he had really enjoyed traveling with his wife, loving their spur of the moment trips. Family was most important to Mr. Carl and he enjoyed every moment they spent together.

He was preceded in death by his parents; great-grandmother that raised him as her own: Martha Bennett; and a grandchild: Garlen Gray.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of five years: Mrs. Mary Gray of Glen St. Mary; children: Edward “Carl” (Holly) Gray Jr. of Sanderson and Carlena (William) Tyson of Glen St. Mary; stepchildren: Curtis (Candy) Bennett of Glen St. Mary and Caroline Bennett of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren: Bailey Tyson, Chase Tyson, and Gracie Gray; step-grandchildren: Riley Ratliff, Abigail Bennett, Jace Creekmore, and Amelia Creekmore; sisters: Joann Gray of Starke, Beverly (Rocky) Buckner of Lutz, Sandy (Rick) Clark of Brooksville, and Libby Thompson of Macclenny; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.

Funeral services will be held at Christian Fellowship Temple, Thursday, July 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Tommy Richardson officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home.
