James Thomas Starling

James Thomas “PeeWee” Starling, 79, passed away on July 8, 2024 in St Cloud after a short battle with cancer. Born on October 19, 1944 in Baker County, Florida, PeeWee spent most of his life in Bradford and Baker County. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and honorably served in the Army during the Vietnam War. 

PeeWee will always be remembered as an adventurer who loved life, laughter, and his family especially his beloved grandchildren, Skylar and Ridge. He was an avid pilot, runner, skier, musician and traveler. Mr. Starling was a poor philanthropist who always cared about others and their plights. He was generous to a fault and a jokester to the end. His laughter and his love of people will be missed by many more than we realize as he never met a stranger. He was a loving husband, a devoted son, a beloved father, an adoring grandfather, a caring brother and a friend to anyone he met. 

Mr. Starling was preceded in death by mother Ora "Tinkey" Starling, his father: Henry Starling; his sister: Patricia (Ralph) Green, infant son: James Darrell Starling; and his first wife and mother of his children: Elaine Starling. 

Survivors include wife: Barbara Starling; daughter: Ann (Olivia) Starling; son: James A. (Roena) Starling; brother: Albert (Donna) Starling; grandchildren: Skylar and Ridge Starling and numerous beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family members.

There will be a viewing on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Glen Friendship Tabernacle Church in Glen St Mary. The funeral service will be held July 12, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Baptist Church in Lawtey with Rev. Albert Starling and Elder David Crawford officiating. Interment will follow at Manntown Cemetery in Glen St. Mary.
