Jo Ann Garey

Jo Ann Garey, age 74 of Macclenny passed away Friday, July 9, 2021 at Community Hospice Center for Caring at Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital. She was born on February 21, 1947 in Jacksonville to the late Mr. Ralph and Antoinette (Walker) Gay. Ms. Jo Ann was a dedicated mother and wife and loved her family, especially her grandkids. She was a member of many online graphic design groups and was very involved with the friends she made there. She will be remembered as a one-of-a-kind woman, who loved to make others laugh.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Shirley Smith; and her husband of fifteen years: Mr. David Garey.

She is survived by her children: Bonnie Gilbert of Macclenny, Sandra (Zonnie) Guess of Glen St. Mary, and Johnnie Lee Gilbert Jr. of Bryceville; step-children: Elizabeth Harvill and Julie Combs both of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren: Lacie Carter, Kasie Grissett, Mathiew Carter, Brooklyn Gilbert, Ashlyn Gilbert, Dallas Gilbert, and Ceara Gilbert; and nine great-grandchildren.

Final memorialization will be by cremation and the family will be holding services at a later date.
