John David Higginbotham, Jr.

John David “J.D.” Higginbotham, Jr., 69 of Glen St. Mary passed away Sunday, November, 8, 2020 at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home in Macclenny after an extended illness. J.D. was born May 2, 1951 in Glen St. Mary to Mr. John Higginbotham Sr. and the late Mrs. Mamie (Staier) Higginbotham. He worked for over thirty years with Gerdau Ameristeel as a supervisor. When not at work, he enjoyed farming and living a simple life. He liked to read and was a historian. Most of all, J.D. loved to spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Mamie Higginbotham.

He leaves behind to cherish years of memories; his beloved wife of 45 years: Mrs. Donna Kay Higginbotham of Glen St. Mary; sons: John David (Virginia) Higginbotham and Brian (Jenna) Higginbotham all of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren: Chelsea Brooke Higginbotham, Skyler (Morgan) Higginbotham, Kalea Higginbotham, Kylie Higginbotham, Tyler Higginbotham, Jada Higginbotham, and Claire Higginbotham; father: John Higginbotham Sr. of Macclenny; brother: Richard Higginbotham of Glen St. Mary; and sister: Sherilyn Reynolds of Glen St. Mary.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at 1:30 PM at Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Dale Hodges Sr. officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made in Mr. J.D.'s honor to the American Bible Society.
