Leo Taylor Obituary

Leo Harold Taylor, age 80 of Glen St. Mary, passed away Monday, January 30, 2023 at his home with his family at his side. Leo was born in Taylor on May 23, 1942 to the late Mr. Warren and Roxanne (Dinkins) Taylor, Sr.

He would proudly serve his country, dedicating twenty-two years of his life to the United States Air Force. He would go on to own and operate a car lot in Jacksonville with two of his brothers. Finally, Leo would retire from the United States Postal Service. In his free time, Mr. Taylor love spending time in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. In his younger years, he enjoyed a good game of golf with his brothers. He was also a skilled mechanic, working on family vehicles, as well as a talented woodworker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Warren Taylor, Jr., Bobby Taylor, James Taylor, Neal Taylor, Eric Taylor, Elgene Taylor, Bill Taylor, Iverna Godwin, and Faye Johnson; mother of his daughters: Linda Taylor; as well as his daughter: LeAnn Miller.

He is survived by his loving wife: Claudia (Townsend) Taylor of Glen St. Mary; children: Cheryl Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mechele (Steve) Taylor of Macclenny, Ashley Lindsey and Samuel (Delana) Lindsey all of Glen St. Mary; son-in-law: Jody Miller of Glen St. Mary; grandchildren: Stevie Taylor, Jesse Taylor, Michael Taylor, Josephine Miller, James Miller, Jackson Miller, Trey Davis, Logan Davis, Carter Davis, Emily Lindsey, and Jacob Lindsey; one great-grandchild on the way; siblings: Brian Taylor of Taylor, Shirley Wright of Yulee, and Melaine Taylor of Jacksonville; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 3, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Taylor Church with Pastor Mark Woods officiating. Visitation will take place at the church at 1:00 PM until the hour of the service. Interment will follow in Taylor Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations be made to The Arc North Florida and Baker County Veterans Council.
