Maria Luz Fratus

Maria Luz Fratus, age 77 of Macclenny passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at home with her family by her side. Born on November 28, 1944 in Loreto, Peru to the late Joseph Fratus and Gilda Rose Sanchez Lagomarsino, Ms. Maria had resided in Macclenny for almost two years with her son. In her home country of Peru, Ms. Fratus was a successful business owner and manager for many years. After moving to America, she owned and operated a dry cleaner in Miami Beach.

In her spare time, Maria enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful cook. She loved her grandchildren and was an outgoing woman, always willing to help others. Above all, Ms. Fratus was an amazing mother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother: Lucho Guedes.

She is survived by her children: Israel (Amy) Martinez of Macclenny, Frank (Sonia) Guedes of Aventura, Christopher Martinez of Lima, Peru, and Tracy (Wera) Wollenmann of Switzerland; grandchildren: Valeria Martinez, Kevin Martinez, Barbara Dzurovcak, Naomi Guedes, Savannah Martinez, Chase Martinez, Nicola, and Coralee; sisters: Carmen Rosea Guedes de Teixeira and Charo Guedes both of Lima, Peru; as well as extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Capt. Todd Kirby and Chaplain Julio Quinones officiating. The family will receive friends at 1:00 PM until the time of service. Final memorialization will be by cremation.
