Marlene Padgett Godwin

Marlene Padgett Godwin (“Meanness”), age 72 of Maxville passed away Sunday, December 27, 2020 at her home with her family by her side. She was born May 5, 1948 to the late Mr. Melvin and Mrs. Ruby Padgett and was a lifelong resident of Maxville. She worked for many years at Cedar Hills Baptist Church. She was a longtime attending member of the First Baptist Church of Maxville and also enjoyed visiting with friend at the Maxville Senior Center. Marlene was known to give others a hard time but was always willing to help anyone in need and to be an encourager.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Mr. Billy Godwin; and two brothers: Willard Padgett and W.J. Padgett.

She leaves behind to cherish years of memories: daughters: Marlisa and Cheyenne Godwin both of Maxville; sister: Annette (Wes) Thomas of St. George; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.

A memorial service to honor Marlene life will held at a later date. Memorialization will be by cremation.
