Mary Louise Sluder, age 81 of Yulee passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Community Hospice Jane and Bill Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach. She was born on February 22, 1940 to the late Mr. Thomas and Willie Mae (Hampton) Romine in Summerville, Georgia. Mary had resided in Nassau County since 1981 and enjoyed being a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #2352, as well as the Lions Club. She was a fantastic cook and a terrific singer in her younger years. She loved to go shopping and to watch westerns.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings: Marvin Romine, Thomas Romine, Cecil Romine, Billy Leon Romine, Martha Wooten, Angie Westbrooks, and Geneva Petty.
She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly sixty-six years: Mr. Luther Sluder of Yulee; children: Richard (Lynn) Sluder, William Sluder, Douglas (Regina) Sluder, and Donna (Stephen) Lee all of Yulee; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sister: Hazel McCord of Biloxi, Mississippi; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at Blackrock Baptist Church at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 with Pastor John Casper officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at the church. Final memorialization will be by cremation.
