Michael Robert Gray

Michael Robert “Mike” Gray, age 73 of Perry and a longtime resident and native of Wakulla County passed away Tuesday, October 19, 2021 with his loving family by his side. Mike was born in Thomasville, Georgia on November 2, 1947 to the late Mr. William Robert “Bill” and Doris (Barwick) Gray Jr. He would grow up in Spring Creek and reside in Wakulla County up until the later stages of his life. He would proudly serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. Mike owned his own business for over thirty years, Gray’s Siding. He was an avid fisherman and loved to be on the water. He enjoyed spending time with family and cooking meals for family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents: Bill Gray, Jr., Doris Barwick, and Norma Jean Gray; beloved wife of many years: Ila Mae (Hurley) Gray; and a sister: Suzzett Gray.

He is survived by his daughters: Wendy Gray of Spring Creek, Tracie (Joe Ward) Gray of St. Marks, Teri (Keith) Morrison, Carmaletta Gray, and Tina Collins all of Crawfordville; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sisters: Marlene (Tommy) Harrison of Perry, Patricia Wolfe of Hillsborough, New Jersey, Deborah Fantini of Brattleboro, Vermont, Belinda (Charlie) Maddox of Carriere, Mississippi, Edna Jean Gray of Orange Park, Jolene (Scott) Helton of Starke, and Sierra Gray of Perry; as well as numerous extended family members and close friends.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Shady Sea Baptist Church with Rev. Jeremy Gray officiating at 4:00 PM. A time to share memories and love of Michael will be held at 3:00 PM until the time of the service. A meal will be provided by the Women’s Auxillary of Shady Sea Baptist Church in the fellowship hall after the service.
