Obituary

Odus David “Crockett” Rhoden, age 69 of Sanderson passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Macclenny Nursing and Rehab Center. Mr. Rhoden was a lifelong resident of Baker County and was born on January 9, 1952 to the late Orbey and Mildred (Gainey) Rhoden in Baxter. He would work as a carpenter for many years and was known as a “jack of all trades”. He was serious about his work and was known to critique others work, even during his stay at Macclenny Nursing and Rehab. Outside of work, “Crockett’s” passions were horseback riding, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed gardening as well and had a “green thumb”.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his daughters: Dena (Daniel) Byrd of Glen St. Mary, Dalana Peacock of Moniac, and Donna (Tony) Johnson of Whittier, North Carolina; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters: Linda (J.N.) Canaday of Moniac, Mary (J.C.) Newmans of Folkston, and Nancy Mayo of Glen St. Mary; brother: Roy (Sandy) Rhoden of Macclenny; as well as other extended family members.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 25, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Mr. Rhoden’s sister’s home at 19009 Crews Road, Glen St. Mary, Florida, 32040.
