Othan Porter

Henry Othan Porter, age 91 of Crawfordville passed away Thursday, November 11, 2021 at his home with his family by his side. A lifelong resident of Wakulla county, Othan was born on March 19, 1930 to loving parents, Nathaniel and Priscilla (Gray) Porter in Spring Creek. He would graduate from Crawfordville High School. Othan was a man of many interests, but he would be considered a master woodworker and glassblower. He was a dedicated craftsman. He worked for many years for the State of Florida Department of Agriculture as a chemist. In his free time, Mr. Porter enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. With his wife, Othan conducted a prison ministry for many years and led countless lives to the Lord. They were longtime members of Crawfordville United Methodist Church, and later River of Life Church. Othan will be remembered as a great husband and a wonderful father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Lincoln Porter and Stevie Jones.

He is survived by his beloved wife of seventy-three years: Mrs. Lila Ruth (Forbes) Porter of Crawfordville; children: Bruce (Julie) Porter and Myron Porter all of Spring Creek, Sylvia Porter of Crawfordville, and Diane (Dallas) Gray of Medart; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as countless extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 11:00 AM at River of Life Church with Pastor Henry Jones officiating and Rev. Donnie Crum assisting. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of service. A meal of fellowship will follow the conclusion of services. A private family interment will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens.
