Robert Cray Davis

Ret. Lt. Robert Cray Davis, age 73 of Glen St. Mary passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at UF Shands Hospital of Gainesville. Robert was born on August 4, 1947 to Mr. William Augustus and the late Mrs. Natalie Louise (Day) Davis in Jacksonville. Robert dedicated thirty years of service to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, where he retired in 2005 as lieutenant. He was known by coworkers as “LT” and “The Legend”, due to his tenure with the sheriff’s office. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed golfing in his younger years. He loved tinkering and was always building things to gift to family and friends. He was also an attending member of New Life Church.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Natalie (Day) Davis.

He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty-two years, Mrs. Frances Davis of Glen St. Mary; son: Randy Greene of Glen St. Mary; daughters: Erica Davis of Jacksonville; Tracy (Johnny) Beverly of Glen St. Mary; and Kayla (Nelson) Speke of Orange Park; grandchildren that he loved dearly: Morgan (Blake) Fish of Glen St. Mary and Sophia Speke of Orange Park; beloved great-grandchildren: Blakely, Jacob and Stetson Fish; father: William Davis of Orange Park; brother: William Alan (Klara) Davis of Orange Park; sister: Nancy Scott of Orange Park; as well as numerous other extended family members.

Due Covid-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, when all who wish to attend can pay their respects to Mr. Robert.
