Roger Alan Redding, a lifelong resident of Braford County passed away Tuesday evening, September 10, 2024 at his home surrounded by loving family. He was born in Starke on October 27, 1956 to Mr. Lonnie “Arthur” Redding, Sr. and Mrs. Minnie (Pringle) Redding. Roger would graduate from Bradford High School and would work a long career with the department of corrections before retiring in 2018. Roger spent his free time working on the family farm and was also a skilled mechanic. He loved spending time with his family and will be remembered a selfless, giving man.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Roger Alan, Jr., and a brother, William “Bill” Redding.
He will be remembered by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Karen Redding of Lawtey; children, Marilyn (JD) Banse of Largo, Shannon (Kevin) Bridges of Lawtey, and Ryan (Rebecca) Redding of Ft. White; eleven grandchildren; siblings, Lonnie (Alethia) Redding, Jr. of Hampton, Jerry (Carol) Redding of Lawtey, and Joy (Ronnie) Beck of Middleburg; as well a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to honor Roger’s life will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Madison Street Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Cason officiating. Interment will follow at Long Branch Cemetery.
