Ruby Jean Porter

Ruby Jean Porter of Spring Creek passed away Monday, May 29, 2023 at her home with her loving family by her side. She was 84 years old. Ruby was born in Manchester, Kentucky on September 8, 1938 to the late Mr. Dave and Lucy (Mayfield) Hyde. She was eventually settle in Wakulla County, where she would live for over fifty years. Ruby would work in administration for several years at Lively Technical College in Tallahassee.

In her spare time, she enjoyed cross-stitch and knitting, as well as fishing when she was younger. She also looked forward to joyrides around the county with her husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings: David Hyde, Pat Houston, and Katherine Jackson.

She is survived by her loving husband of ten years: Mr. Albert Porter of Spring Creek; children: Carl Mills of Crawfordville, Harry Mills and Larry (Rhonda) Mills both of Denham Springs, LA, Pamela (Dannie) Hale of Crawfordville, Vickie (Gary) Starling of Sopchoppy, and James Mills of Ashland, KY; twenty-three grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; step-son: Bobby (Lorraine) Porter; siblings: Carl (Doris) Hyde and Ronnie (June) Hyde both of Seymour, IN and Marie (Sidney) Stephenson of Hartselle, AL; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 2, 2023 at Friendship Primitive Baptist Church at 11:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 PM at the church with Pastor Michael Hall officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Memorial Gardens.
