Ruth Prevatt Collier

Ruth Prevatt Collier, age 70 of Otter Creek passed away Friday, March 4, 2022 at the Haven Tri-Counties Hospice Care Center. She was born in Brooksville on October 22, 1951 to the late Mr. William and Violet (Faircloth) Prevatt. Ruth would spend most of her life in Jacksonville but had spent the last few years in the Levy County area. Her life was her grandchildren, spending time with them and making memories. Ruth had a bubbly personality, would never meet a stranger, and always had a smile on her face. She also was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and his music.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Jackson Prevatt and Virginia Powell; stepson: Jimmie Collier, Jr.; and her beloved husband of twenty years: Mr. Jimmie Collier, Sr.

She is survived by her sons: Jody (April) McDowell of Glen St. Mary and Edward “Eddie” (Renee) McDowell of Macclenny; stepson: Bubba Collier of Jacksonville; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister: Annie Mae Curry of Otter Creek; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home. A memorial service to honor Ruth’s life will begin at 12:00 PM in the chapel. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Riverside Memorial Park.
