William Martin Baker, Sr.

William Martin Baker, Sr. age 78 of Macclenny passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Ed Fraser Memorial Hospital. Born in Newark, New Jersey on May 9, 1944, he was the son of the late Mr. Levere and Dorothy (Houser) Baker. William was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He was self employed for many years, owning Baker Moving Company for over thirty years. In his later years, he enjoyed Uber Driving to keep himself busy.

In his spare time, William enjoyed traveling and visiting casinos. He loved the time he got to spend with family, especially his grandkids. Mr. Baker never met a stranger and was quite the conversationalist. He also enjoyed staying active riding his bike.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Richard Baker and Diane Dill.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of fifty-seven years: Maureen Baker of Macclenny; children: Kelly Ann (Cecil) Horne and William “Billy” (Melba) Baker all of Macclenny; grandsons: Trey Baker of Gainesville, and Ridge Horne and Brenden Baker both of Macclenny; brother: Jack Baker, Sr. of Macclenny; sisters-in-law: Kathleen Mulcahy and Eileen Daddis both of New Jersey; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 22, 2022 in the chapel of Forbes Funeral Home from 5:00 until 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Timmy Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Macedonia Cemetery with military honors to be rendered.
