Willie Bass Obituary

Willie Mae Bass, 97 of Macclenny passed away Friday, April 10, 2020 at St. Vincent's Riverside Hospital Community Hospice Center.

Ms. Willie Mae was born October 27, 1922 in Macclenny to the late Mr. Archibald and Vessie (Combs) Thrift. She spent her younger years in Baker county before moving to Jacksonville where she lived for nearly 40 years.

She dedicated ten years to working at JC Penney's. In her spare time and later in life, Ms. Bass loved to travel and took up gardening. She loved to cook for her family and after passing on the cooking duties to others, she liked to critique their work. Most of all, family was of upmost importance to Ms. Willie Mae.

She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband: Mr. Vernon Bass; sisters: Nettie Walker and Elene Barber Caldwell, other siblings in past years, and a granddaughter: Kinsey Bass.

She leaves behind to cherish the memories: her daughter: Brenda Correa of Macclenny; sons: Mark (Tammy) Bass of Clovis, NM and Gary (Poon) Bass of Thailand; six grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; as well as a multitude of other family members and friends.

Private graveside services will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery, Macclenny. A celebration of Ms. Willie Mae's life will be held later this year.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hawke M.T. Forbes and H.M. "Hank" Forbes Jr. of Forbes Funeral Home, Macclenny. "With Your Family In Mind". 904-259-4600. Please leave your thoughts and condolences for the family in the online guestbook at www.forbesfuneralhome.net.
