Winnifred Gay

Ms. Winnifred LaVerne Chesser Gay, age 84 of Gainesville, Florida, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013. She was born in Folkston, GA to the late Thomas and Iva Lee Chesser. A retired hairdresser, Ms. Gay enjoyed gardening, cooking, and writing short stories. Ms. Gay was a very giving woman who loved spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by her sons: Ronnie (Gayla) Gay of Cordele, GA and Fleming (Tila) Gay Jr. of Gainesville, FL; daughters: Barbara (Rick) Murray of Beverly Hills, FL and Bonnie (Mark) Scarborough of Citrus Springs, FL; brothers: Wade (Jean) Chesser of Vidalia, GA, Bill (Latrelle) Chesser and Joe Lester (Donnie) Chesser all of Folkston, GA and Aaron Huey (Karen) Chesser of Virginia; sister: Ruby Sirmons of Waycross, GA; thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services will be held 2:00pm, Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Philadelphia Freewill Baptist Church, Folkston, GA with Pastor Parnell Aldridge officiating. Interment will follow at Prospect Methodist Church Cemetery, Folkston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
